SACRED SCALE®️ RESEARCH
1. ON DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND PAIN
Research in music, in particular, the health benefits of using this alternative medicine, the 9 solfeggio frequencies began in 2011 with Researcher Julia MacKinley. and Carla Rose Kelly. The initial study on whether or not the solfeggio frequencies, SACRED SCALE®️ Music could be used to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression and pain had great success.
Carla Rose Kelly and Julia MacKinley are the pioneer and sole researchers on the SACRED SCALE®️ Music. The goal of the current project is to bring attention to these important frequencies and show whether or not it is effective in alleviating symptoms of depression, anxiety and pain. Future research will focus on the use of SACRED SCALE®️ Music as treatment option for these disorders and which groups benefit most from this form of therapy.
SACRED SCALE®️ RESEARCH RESULTS: This study included 120 participants gathered from a community sample who completed 3 sessions. In this sample, 31% had been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition at some point in their life and 65% reported some form of chronic pain in their lifetime. A repeated measures ANOVA with a Greenhouse-Geisser correction determined the mean reported level of depression differed significantly across sessions (p < 0.001). The average depression score at baseline was 10.2 out of a possible 60, whereas after the final session the average depression score was 2.5, a score noting a lack of depression. The same trend held true for anxiety (p < 0.05) and pain (p = 0.01), decreasing mean reported pain by 4.2 points on a 10 point scale and decreasing mean anxiety 16 points on a 99 point scale.
This study shows that this form of music treatment is effective in alleviating the symptoms of pain, depression and anxiety. When we looked at different forms of pain, the treatment was equally effective across pain types (ie. migraine, muscle pain etc.) This shows that this type of therapy can help alleviate pain across a variety of symptoms and disorders. The fact that it is a passive therapy leaves it available for people suffering from a wide array of disorders that may impact language, spatial and motor functioning needed for more traditional forms of music therapy.
